Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, a new film, was released on February 9, 2019, and continues the plot begun in the previous films. Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, a new anime, will premiere in December 2020. Here you will find out about how many seasons of Code Geass.

Code Geass Introduction

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, or simply Code Geass, is a popular Sunrise Animation show from Japan. In 2006, this show made its debut on MBS in Japan. The series’ popularity has skyrocketed not only in Japan but all across the world since its debut.

This anime series takes place in an alternate timeline and centers on the exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia. Who obtains the “power of ultimate obedience” from a mysterious woman named C.C. Lelouch uses his Geass, a supernatural ability, to lead a rebellion against the Holy Britannian Empire and win a series of mecha fights.

There are more people who watch Code Geass than any other anime in Japan. More than a million DVDs and Blu-rays have been sold since its release. Animage Anime Grand Prix, Animation Kobe event, and the Tokyo International Anime Expo all gave the two seasons top honors.

Is Code Geass Complete?

After the release of the Code Geass: Fukkatsu No Lelouch film in 2019, the anime television series that premiered in the fall of 2006 came to an end. Many Code Geass viewers have been eagerly anticipating the third season ever since the conclusion of the second.

The third season of Code Geass has been announced, but there has been no word on when it will air. But, the release of Code Geass: Z of the Recapture is rapidly approaching. There has been no word on when exactly it will be available, though.

Moreover, there has been talk of a third season of the original Code Geass series premiering in the fall of 2022 or 2023. It’s worth noting that the Code Geass movies usually stick to a different timeframe than the TV series.

Thus, Z of the Recapture will pick up where Fukkatsu no Lelouch left off. Hence, it is quite doubtful that the show will return for a third season until at least the Autumn of 2022. It’s important to realize that, since the new anime TV series’ structure is unclear at this time, many sources have been using the term “Code Geass Season 3” to refer to the upcoming 2021 adaptation. It’s possible that this is the beginning of a film franchise called Code Geass: Z of the Recapture.

Code Geass: A Synopsis

There was an official declaration of war between the United Kingdom and Japan on August 10, 2010. But, Japan suffers a devastating invasion since her military technology can’t compete with the British “Knightmare frame” weapons.

Japanese people are now known as “11s” and their country is officially called “Area11” after the British invasion. But, Lelouch, a British citizen currently residing in Japan, has vowed vengeance on his homeland.

Lelouch fast-forwards several decades and enrolls in high school. In a tragic turn of events, the British army kills him and his friend Suzaku. Yet, Lelouch begins to feel the effects of a magical ability called “Geass” just before he passes away.

He makes up his mind to go to war with the British Empire using this unique ability. The show has lively animation and an appropriate soundtrack. All of the characters in this anime TV series come to life, making it unlike any other anime.

Code Geass has a short run time of just two seasons. The reports of a third season of the anime were unfounded, however. The core storyline of Code Geass has not been confirmed to be continued by Sunrise.

While “Code Geass: Z of the Recapture” has been confirmed as the title of a new anime series, it appears that viewers will be following a different protagonist in this installment. The anime is rumored to take place after the events of Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch.

Fans of the Code Geass franchise can rest easy knowing that additional content will be released in the coming years, despite the fact that the series’ lead character may not be involved with the project or may just have a supporting role. We know very little about the project at this time.

Conclusion

While Sunrise is home to a number of mecha anime titles, these series rarely build upon one another and can be watched independently of their chronological chronology. Code Geass, however, was a watershed moment for the studio, and it now becomes essential for viewers to watch all of the company’s output in order to piece together the tale.
